When living in Germany for a longer period, having a German bank account becomes a must. You will be able then to use your German credit card (Deutsche EC-Karte) for your everyday life as not all foreign credit cards are accepted. Additionnnally, most payments, such as rent, internet and electricity, are made via your bank account. Also, to receive your pay at the end of the month from work, it is best to have a German bank account.
